Job Description
Technical Product Manager owning Xsolla’s advertising recommendation engine. Connecting ranking models, experimentation, and revenue for a global video-game commerce company.
Responsibilities:
- Own the recommendation engine as a product, including ranking, relevance, and the model roadmap
- Set the ranker's optimization objective, constraints, guardrails, and kill conditions
- Define the metrics the team measures against and resolve metric-definition questions
- Collaborate with ML on frameworks and experiment design, including hold-outs, pre-registered decision rules, power calculations, sample-ratio-mismatch checks, A/A validation, multiplicity correction, and rollback triggers
- Collaborate with Data Science on readouts evaluating model performance and communicating findings to business stakeholders
- Contribute the ranking perspective to the wider ads roadmap, including pricing, identity, and event telemetry intersections
Requirements:
- 6+ years in product management
- 3+ years owning a recommendation, ranking, personalization, or relevance system in production
- Deep understanding of experiment design and inference, including minimum detectable effect, statistical power, sample ratio mismatch, A/A testing, multiple-comparison correction, and pre-registration
- Working knowledge of classification and regression, probability calibration, predicted conversion rate, expected-value objectives, and model behavior
- Hands-on experience with Snowflake, BigQuery, Spark, Airflow, dbt, MLFlow, Vertex AI, and feature stores
- Proven record of moving model changes into production traffic through a controlled experiment process
- Knowledge of performance advertising economics and ad tech ecosystems, including eCPM, RPU, bid multipliers, campaign hierarchies, and attribution models
- SQL proficiency and enough comfort reading application code to verify claims
- Excellent written communication and stakeholder management across technical and non-technical audiences
- Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Economics, or a related field
- Offerwall, rewarded advertising, loyalty and rewards programs, and/or mobile app monetization experience is a plus
- Experience with a two-stage ranking system is a plus
- Pricing, yield management, or marketplace experience alongside ranking is a plus
