Job Description
Freelance Video Editor transforming long-form videos into engaging short-form social media content. Ideal for individuals with strong short-form editing skills and understanding of social-first video.
Responsibilities:
- Edit longer client videos into short-form social media clips
- Identify strong moments, hooks and relevant excerpts based on written briefs
- Create videos typically under 45 seconds, or under one minute where appropriate
- Add subtitles, captions and visible design elements where needed
- Ensure video quality is sharp, crisp and suitable for social media
- Ensure audio is clean, clear and free from avoidable background noise
- Edit content for LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok and similar platforms
- Follow client strategy, brand direction and content calendar requirements
- Ask clear questions early when the brief is unclear
- Deliver edits within agreed weekly/monthly deadlines
- Complete revisions promptly and professionally
Requirements:
- Excellent English comprehension
- Strong short-form editing skills
- Ability to work from briefs without needing exact timestamps
- Strong short-form video editing portfolio
- Experience repurposing long-form content into short social clips
- Good understanding of social-first content and storytelling
- Able to identify strong hooks and engaging moments without being spoon-fed timestamps
- Strong attention to pacing, captions, readability and sound quality
- Comfortable working from written briefs and client strategy notes
- Reliable, organised and deadline-driven
- Experience editing business, founder, entrepreneur, coaching or professional services content would be helpful
