Job Description
Software engineering technical lead designing Compliance Systems applications for TruStage’s insurance and financial services business. Leading development, production support, architecture, and technical team growth.
Responsibilities:
- Specify, design, code, debug, test, implement, maintain, and support software solutions
- Develop large and complex solutions across multiple technical areas and business segments
- Lead projects and serve as a technical subject matter expert
- Work with customers, business analysts, product managers, and team members to understand business requirements
- Align technical solutions with business and technology strategies and architectural standards
- Design component and data architectures, monitor performance, evaluate products, and make buy-versus-build recommendations
- Provide technical guidance and management assistance to product managers
- Coach and mentor technical team members and enforce coding and product development best practices
- Collaborate with other Technical Leads and supervise team members
- Develop object-oriented software features, desktop applications, web-based applications, installation packages, technical documentation, and unit tests
- Develop and review functional specifications, workflows, API/SDK interfaces, and database integrations
- Define project tasks, milestones, risks, mitigation plans, and status updates
- Profile feature and algorithm performance and implement improvements
- Develop scalable multi-tenant or single-tenant web services and desktop applications
- Measure product performance and operational metrics and document improvements
- Apply relational databases, APIs, SDKs, source control, version control, deployment methods, SDLC, TDD, agile, and waterfall methodologies
- Support Compliance Systems products at business partners and resolve production issues within SLA
- Coordinate release distribution with client services, documentation, development, and software teams
- Provide first-, second-, and third-level production support as experience increases
- Design, implement, and support data, business logic, user interface, relational database, and deployment architectures
- Design and implement decoupled modules to improve performance and encapsulate domain complexity
- Triage technical issues, escalate issues, and coordinate prioritization and resource allocation
- Provide technical advocacy and collaborate across technical leads and lines of business
- Lead or participate in SRGs and transfer knowledge across teams
- Assist with development scoping, roadmap planning, release candidates, and Go/No-Go meetings
- Lead onboarding, training, goal setting, personnel development planning, coaching, and mentoring
- Establish onboarding plans and monitor team member performance and supply chain metrics
- Provide feedback, assess technical skills, define development goals, and create corrective action plans when needed
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university
- Generally, eight or more years of functional work experience
- Strong coaching and mentoring abilities
- Application software development or technical support experience
- Experience developing, coding, testing, debugging, documenting, implementing, and maintaining software applications
- Experience maintaining, testing, and integrating application components
- Understanding of Compliance Systems software and the financial services industry
- Ability to analyze requirements and translate business requirements into product designs
- Ability to write technical specifications and documentation
- Strong project management skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work as part of integrated teams and manage details
- Understanding of current technology issues and trends in the business unit industry
- Strong understanding of Compliance Systems technical products and the business unit industry
- Ability to communicate and sell concepts to senior management, sales, operations, and technical audiences
- Strong understanding of core business issues
- Familiarity with C#, JavaScript, XML, XSLT, XPATH, SQL, and related applications
- Object-oriented design methodologies
- Understanding of software development design patterns
- Familiarity with AWS cloud services is a plus
