Job Description
Staff Software Engineer architecting data-intensive systems for Highlight’s physical product intelligence platform. Building customer insights through web applications, distributed systems, and AI-enabled analytics.
Responsibilities:
- Own the architecture and execution of data-intensive systems that power customer insights
- Translate ideas, wireframes, and detailed designs into data-intensive web applications
- Use agentic loops throughout the development process to accelerate value delivery
- Conduct architecture and code reviews to coach, mentor, and raise the technical bar
- Triage, investigate, and resolve complex issues involving distributed systems and third-party providers
- Directly advance Highlight’s mission
- Ship features that impact product strategy and customer value
- Deliver performant, maintainable systems while growing engineering team capabilities
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience building data-intensive online applications
- Familiarity with ETL and/or RAG design and development
- Proficiency in multiple technologies across the software stack: React, TypeScript, Next.JS, ai-sdk, PostgreSQL, and C#/.NET
- Familiarity with design and prototyping tools like Figma and v0
- Bonus: experience operating CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Terraform, and Helm
- Bonus: experience with production systems using AWS and EKS
- Bonus: experience with observability platforms such as Grafana/OTel
- Experience turning rough ideas into polished, usable data products
- Ability to take initiative, deliver results, and inspire others
- Ability to understand users’ needs and deliver value
