Job Description
Remote CRS technical advisor leading Sudan’s World Bank-funded Food and Nutrition Security Plan. Advising global food security, livelihoods, and market-based humanitarian programming.
Responsibilities:
- Provide technical advice and support on food security, humanitarian in-kind food assistance, livelihoods, and markets programming
- Support regional and Country Program teams with program design and implementation standards, best practices, partnership principles, tools, and monitoring and evaluation
- Develop or contribute to technical designs for large and/or complex proposals, including monitoring systems and indicators
- Advise project teams on integrating donor strategies, priorities, and technical requirements
- Contribute to agency-wide strategies, standards, tools, and best practices in food security and livelihoods
- Integrate gender, protection mainstreaming, and disaster risk reduction into programming
- Support capacity strengthening through learning and training strategies, workshops, mentoring, and coaching
- Coordinate Sudan’s Food and Nutrition Security Plan Secretariat
- Manage the FNS Plan budget and implementation activities, including sub-grants, research, workshops, and meetings
- Maintain relationships with the World Bank, humanitarian and development leaders in Sudan, donors, peer organizations, research institutions, and partners
- Ensure the success of the FNS Plan if triggered
- Collect and analyze program data, evaluate strategic projects, measure program impact, and share lessons learned and best practices
- Participate in food security and livelihoods forums to collect and share best practices and promote CRS’ work
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in international development, or fields related to food security, livelihoods and market-based response programming
- Minimum of eight years relevant international working experience in an advisory or management role with progressive responsibilities
- Minimum of three years working overseas in multiple regions as a technical advisor and/or program manager of a Market-based Program and/or multi-sectoral project with a Food Security and Livelihoods component
- Previous experience providing technical assistance and developing successful proposals for external donor funding
- Strong understanding and application of technical principles and concepts in Food Security and Livelihoods
- Good knowledge of related disciplines to ensure a proper cross-sectoral approach
- Track record of contributing to successful business development activities capturing public and/or private donor funding in Market-based Programming
- Experience developing curricula, tools, and other products supporting Market-based Programming interventions
- Demonstrated ability to transfer knowledge through training, mentoring, and formal and informal methods
- Experience conducting market assessments and response analysis to inform modality decisions, particularly in emergency rapid-onset humanitarian contexts
- Experience with program monitoring and evaluation, including indicators, data collection tools and methodologies, data analysis, and data presentation
- Experience and skills in networking and relations with donors, peer organizations, and faith-based civil society partners
- Proficiency in MS Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), web conferencing applications, information and budget management systems, and knowledge-sharing networks
- English required; Arabic desirable
- Must be willing and able to travel up to 50%, with frequent travel to Sudan
- CRS does not sponsor visas for remote employees
- Ability to legally work where the position is performed
- Pre-employment medical clearance required for positions involving residence or frequent travel outside a home country
- Master’s Degree in a related field is preferred/an advantage
