Job Description
Transmission Engineer focusing on Transmission and Distribution projects within AECOM's Energy Business Line. Involves engineering analysis, design, and project lifecycle support with a focus on compliance and documentation.
Responsibilities:
- Perform engineering analysis and design for overhead transmission lines
- Prepare construction packages including plan & profile drawings
- Utilize industry-standard software such as PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, PLS-TOWER
- Support project lifecycle activities including scope development, cost estimating, scheduling, and field support
- Ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards, and guidelines
- Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders
- Provide engineering support during construction
- Maintain accurate documentation and contribute to continuous improvement of design standards
- Identify and mitigate site issues
- Interact with customer’s internal engineers and technical experts
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with clients
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
- 2 years of relevant experience or a demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification
- Understanding of transmission line design principles
- Experience with CAD or engineering design tools
- Familiarity with PLS-CADD strongly preferred
- Currently working towards Professional Engineer (PE) License is a plus
- Experience with high-voltage transmission projects (69–500 kV)
- Familiarity with NESC, ASCE 48, ASCE 10, and utility design standards
- Field experience supporting construction or inspections
- Familiarity with utility transmission standards
- Self-motivated
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Experience on full EPC, Design/Build projects from start to finish
- Owner’s Engineering experience
- Experience with retrofit or brown field projects
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
