Job Description
Controls Engineer configuring and testing automation systems for large-scale data centers. Engaging in engineering and commissioning activities to ensure reliable power system operations.
Responsibilities:
- Configure and integrate substation automation systems (e.g., MicroSCADA or similar platforms).
- Engineer and test IEC 61850 systems, including MMS, GOOSE, and IED configuration.
- Build HMI screens and support SCADA database configuration.
- Configure protection relays and IEDs (Hitachi, SEL, or equivalent) using vendor engineering tools.
- Program and test RTUs (e.g., RTU560 or similar), including logic, communication mapping, and point ‑ to ‑ point testing.
- Configure industrial Ethernet switches, VLANs, PRP, and perform network troubleshooting.
- Integrate communication protocols such as DNP3, IEC 104, Modbus, SNMP.
- Interpret and work from schematics, wiring diagrams, and single ‑ line diagrams.
- Perform system troubleshooting using tools such as Wireshark.
- Apply power system protection concepts in commissioning and validation activities.
- Interface with customers and team members during testing, energization, and issue resolution.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in automation, control systems, or commissioning/startup.
- Strong knowledge of control theory, automation concepts, and troubleshooting methodologies.
- Experience with power system protection and control concepts and substation equipment.
- Clear and effective communication skills (written and verbal).
- Ability to work safely and contribute to a safety ‑ driven culture.
- Willingness to travel and perform out ‑ of ‑ town commissioning work.
