Job Description
Senior Accountant managing payroll, reconciliations, and close activities for CAC, a Christian contemplative nonprofit. Improving scalable finance operations in a fully remote role.
Responsibilities:
- Support the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process
- Prepare account reconciliations and ensure financial records remain accurate and complete
- Assist with general ledger accounting and journal entries
- Help maintain strong internal controls and accounting best practices
- Own payroll processing and ensure employees are paid accurately and on time
- Partner with internal stakeholders to resolve payroll-related questions
- Support tax filings and payroll compliance activities
- Work closely with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable team members
- Review reconciliations and day-to-day accounting activity
- Help troubleshoot issues and ensure smooth financial operations across the team
- Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and improve efficiency
- Recommend and implement process improvements
- Partner with leadership to help build scalable accounting practices
Requirements:
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Experience supporting month-end close and account reconciliations
- Experience processing payroll
- Strong understanding of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across teams
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience working in a nonprofit organization (nice to have)
- Experience using Sage Intacct (nice to have)
- Experience with investment reconciliations (nice to have)
- Experience with Rippling or similar payroll platforms (nice to have)
- Familiarity with Salesforce, Shopify, Avalara, or PayPal (nice to have)
