Job Description
Accounting Manager at Beam Benefits managing day-to-day financial operations. Overseeing accounting tasks and driving process automation within a tech-driven organization.
Responsibilities:
- Perform and review accounting tasks across accounts payable and expense, cash, payroll, tax, fixed assets, and capitalized software, ensuring compliance with US GAAP and internal controls
- Manage month-end and year-end close processes for assigned operational areas, including preparation and review of journal entries and account reconciliations
- Monitor accounts payable and treasury functions to support cash flow management and vendor relationships
- Identify opportunities for automation and process improvements, implementing solutions to enhance efficiency
- Work cross-functionally with teams across the company to ensure financial processes align with business objectives
- Coordinate and manage external audits for assigned areas
- Develop and maintain policies and procedures to support the company’s growth and scalability
- Partner with HR to support payroll processing and reconciliations, with knowledge of payroll tax implications being a valuable asset
- Support tax compliance activities, fixed asset accounting, and the capitalization and amortization of internal-use software
Requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; exposure to insurance accounting and reporting is a plus
- At least 5 years of experience in accounting operations or public accounting, with prior experience in a managerial role preferred
- Strong understanding of US GAAP and financial reporting principles
- Experience with process automation and ERP systems; proficiency in NetSuite is a plus
- Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with data visualization tools
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- A proactive mindset with the ability to challenge existing processes and drive continuous improvement
