Job Description
Application Administrator II supporting University of Rochester healthcare and higher-education applications. Managing environments, databases, upgrades, integrations, security, testing, and on-call operations.
Responsibilities:
- Build, maintain, monitor, and audit on-premises application installations
- Apply security standards, troubleshoot issues, implement solutions, and participate in system and component upgrades
- Provide technical support for non-production and production environments, including troubleshooting and remediation
- Research and answer application, database, server, and security configuration questions
- Provide escalation and on-call support after hours
- Monitor environments and coordinate performance tuning across application, database, server, and security settings
- Manage code migrations, environment builds, testing, and implementation
- Apply patches and deliver minor and major application upgrades
- Translate functional requirements into technical or systems specifications when needed
- Design technical enhancements and complete application administration deliverables
- Participate in or lead testing, test-plan preparation, integrated testing, and upgrade validation
- Participate in systems projects, project planning, estimation, retrospectives, and continuous improvement
- Develop technical documentation, procedures, and best practices
- Provide cross-training, peer support, and technical leadership as assigned
Requirements:
- High School diploma and 3 years of related experience required
- Bachelor's degree in a related discipline preferred
- Experience in higher education or healthcare preferred
- Experience with interface, networking, design, and relational database technologies preferred
- Experience supporting cloud and on-premises applications preferred
- Experience with multi-tier applications using application and web servers preferred
- Experience with project management from planning through implementation preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team required
- Ability to participate in on-call rotations required
- Strong understanding of system/application administration activities preferred
- Oracle, MySQL, MS SQL, or related database experience preferred
- Understanding of web server, app server, and database interactivities preferred
- Understanding of application infrastructure and architecture, specifically EPIC as it relates to Cogito environments, preferred
- Experience with Denodo or other data virtualization/federation platforms preferred
- Exposure to ETL tools such as Informatica or SSIS preferred
- Epic Certification in Cogito Administration I and II within 12 months of hire
