Job Description

Medtronic clinical specialist supporting pain therapy procedures across Gainesville and Ocala. Providing surgical coverage, device programming, troubleshooting, training, and patient education.

Responsibilities:

  • Represent Medtronic during surgical procedures by ensuring necessary equipment and products are available, providing technical support and device selection, and programming and testing device systems
  • Manage patients through all phases of the clinical process and educate them on Medtronic products
  • Provide clinical support in surgeries, re-programmings, troubleshooting, and follow-ups in hospitals and clinics
  • Respond to technical inquiries from customers, patients, and colleagues
  • Maintain knowledge of competitive products
  • Educate and train physicians, hospital personnel, and office staff on products and therapies
  • Assist Management and Sales Training in educating and training new district employees
  • Complete event reporting and documentation using Medtronic technology tools
  • Place orders for pending purchase orders and product replacement
  • Work with materials management to collect purchase orders for covered cases
  • Manage case-coverage inventory, including transactions, cycle counts, product retrievals, turnover, and expiration/hold controls
  • Contribute to quarterly district, regional, and national initiative goals
  • Partner with sales representatives to achieve territory/district business goals and document quarterly activities
  • Visit accounts to replenish literature and maintain relationships with office staff
  • Use Excel, mobile phone, iPad, laptop, and/or Samsung tablet regularly
  • Manage business expenses and budgets
  • Complete required therapy trainings and maintain understanding of applicable quality policies
  • Provide clinical event coverage with schedule flexibility, including weekends and after-hours
  • Travel within the district and occasionally to neighboring districts as needed

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED with a minimum 4 years of clinical or medical sales experience; or Associate Degree with a minimum 2 years of clinical or medical sales experience; or a Bachelor’s degree
  • Preferred residence in the Ocala, Florida territory
  • Preferred bachelor’s degree in a health care related field
  • Registered nurse or HCP with experience in a sterile environment preferred
  • Clinical experience with implantable neurological products and patient care preferred
  • Experience servicing medical personnel on product use preferred
  • Experience with a medical device or pharmaceutical company and clinical experience in neurology, neurosurgery, orthopedics, operating room, pain management, or home health care preferred
  • Understanding of basic reimbursement and the healthcare environment preferred
  • Ability to use healthcare universal precautions to minimize exposure to infectious disease and radiation
  • Ability to serve as primary resource for scheduled and unscheduled clinical events, including weekends, evenings, and nights, with possible overnight travel
  • Ability to work efficiently and autonomously with little direction outside clinical events
  • Ability to attend national meetings, district meetings, and training
  • Ability to wear a 7–9 lb protective lead apron for extended periods in the operating room
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs
  • Ability to sit, stand, and/or walk for 8+ hours per day
  • Ability to bend/stoop, squat, and balance frequently
  • Specific vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment
  • Valid driver’s license and active vehicle insurance policy required; driving record will be reviewed
  • Unrestricted U.S. work authorization required at hire and throughout employment; sponsorship is not offered for roles below Principal level
  • For baccalaureate degrees earned outside the United States, degree must satisfy 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A)
