Job Description
Associate General Counsel guiding product legal strategy for IonQ’s quantum computing, networking, sensing, and security products. Advising teams on regulatory compliance and complex technology transactions.
Responsibilities:
- Counsel product and research teams across the full product lifecycle
- Lead regulatory compliance efforts for manufacturing, distribution, and sale of products in the United States and abroad
- Draft, negotiate, and execute strategic partnerships, licensing, joint development, supply, and manufacturing arrangements
- Build playbooks, processes, and infrastructure for a scalable product legal function
- Collaborate with product, research, engineering, finance, privacy, compliance, trade, cross-functional stakeholders, and outside counsel
- Translate complex legal concepts into actionable guidance for non-lawyers and align legal advice with product, engineering, and business strategy
- Report to the Head of Product Legal
Requirements:
- J.D. from an accredited law school
- Active membership in good standing in at least one U.S. state bar, or eligibility for in-house/registered counsel status in your state of employment
- 8+ years of relevant experience at a leading law firm and/or in-house legal department
- Substantial experience advising on regulatory compliance for the manufacturing, distribution, and sale of technology products in the US and abroad
- Proven track record drafting, negotiating, and executing complex technology transactions with direct impact on business or product strategy
- Versatility across regulatory and transactional matters
- Judgment to advise amid ambiguity and interest in novel legal questions
- Ability to leverage existing AI tools and help build superior ones
- U.S. citizenship or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawful admission as a refugee or asylee, due to export control laws and regulations
