Job Description
Billing and Coding Associate processing payments, coding claims, and managing receivables for Derick Dermatology’s dermatology practice. Remote role serving patients and insurance payers from Illinois or Florida.
Responsibilities:
- Enter payments within an EMR system and generate patient invoices
- Accurately code medical claims and electronically submit them to insurance payers each day
- Handle inbound and outbound calls
- Verify insurance coverage and assist patients with insurance questions
- Work patient and insurance aged receivables
- Collect, post, and manage patient account payments
- Prepare and review patient statements
- Import and balance EFTs
- Identify and correct rejected claims
- Review delinquent accounts and contact patients for collection purposes
- Process payments from insurance companies
- Follow up on accepted or denied claims
- Review and appeal unpaid and denied claims
- Evaluate medical record documentation to ensure appropriate CPT and ICD-10 coding
- Obtain precertification for specific procedures when required
- Investigate and report suspected insurance fraud
Requirements:
- Official High School Transcripts, Diploma or Equivalency Certificate
- Ability to navigate between different tabs and systems on the computer while attending phone calls
- CPB or other Medical Billing Certification desired, but not required
- CPC or Medical Coding Certification desired, but not required
- Strong Attention to Detail
- Ability to Multitask
- General Understanding of Insurance Terminology
- Ability to Communicate Clearly with Patients and Staff
- Must live in Illinois or Florida
- Must have a dedicated workspace within your home
- Must pass a Wi-Fi speed test
