Job Description
Bookkeeping Manager managing a portfolio of clients and overseeing bookkeeping teams. Contributing to financial insights in a cloud-based accounting environment.
Responsibilities:
- Manage a small, dedicated book of 15–30 clients
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring clear communication and exceptional client service.
- Lead full‑cycle bookkeeping for clients and oversee bookkeeping work completed by team members.
- Prepare complete and accurate year‑end files, coordinating with the tax team for seamless processing.
- Review and approve the work completed by bookkeepers on assigned client files.
- Support hiring, onboarding, and training of new bookkeepers, providing ongoing coaching and guidance.
- Ensure all deliverables for your client portfolio are completed on time and maintain high-quality service standards.
Requirements:
- 10+ years of bookkeeping experience, ideally in public practice
- Ability to work accurately and independently within defined systems
- Strong knowledge of Canadian small-business tax (GST/HST, payroll, year-end prep)
- Experience with CRA portals and filings (T4/T5/T5018)
- Proven ability to manage client relationships and collaborate across teams
- Strong understanding of accounting controls and cleanup processes
- Proficiency in cloud tools (Xero, QBO, Dext, Hubdoc)
- Highly organized, proactive, and excellent communicator
- Experience guiding or coaching bookkeepers
