Job Description
Clinical Trial Nurse Navigator helping blood cancer patients identify and enroll in clinical trials. Educating families and coordinating support through Blood Cancer United’s Information Resource Center.
Responsibilities:
- Independently maintain a caseload of patients seeking enrollment into clinical trials
- Assess patients and objectively present available treatment options, including clinical trials
- Educate patients and family members about blood cancer diagnoses, standard-of-care treatments, and clinical trial options
- Help patients overcome obstacles to clinical trial enrollment
- Support patients and families around decisions to end treatment
- Collaborate with Information Resource Center staff to educate and support patients and families
- Serve as a clinical-trial consultant to the Information Resource Center
- Provide clinical trial expertise to Patient and Professional Education staff developing materials and programs
- Maintain and increase knowledge of hematologic cancers, blood and bone marrow transplant, and psychosocial aspects of cancer
- Contribute to process improvement for Clinical Trial Support Center procedures
- Develop working relationships with internal teams, trial-site staff, investigators, sponsors, and patient and professional organizations
- Apply ethical standards and federal regulations governing human-subjects research
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required
- Current RN licensure required
- Oncology experience preferred
- Specialty training in Oncology/Hematology preferred
- OCN certification preferred
- Clinical research experience preferred
- Master’s degree preferred; a Master’s degree in a non-nursing area considered
- Ability and desire to excel in independent work and in a team environment
- Spanish speaking preferred
- Outstanding critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated commitment to independent learning and skill enhancement
- Expertise in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and OneNote
- Reliable internet connection required, with minimum download and upload speeds of 50 Mbps
