Job Description
Cybersecurity Intern gaining hands-on experience in security operations, vulnerability management, and incident response. Supporting cybersecurity projects at global electronics manufacturer Kimball Electronics.
Responsibilities:
- Report to the Sr. Cybersecurity Engineer
- Work with cybersecurity professionals across the global organization
- Gain hands-on experience in security operations, vulnerability management, incident response, security awareness, and risk management
- Assist with monitoring and triaging security alerts and events
- Gain familiarity with vulnerability management processes and remediation activities
- Learn incident response procedures and cybersecurity investigation techniques
- Participate in cybersecurity projects that improve the organization's security posture
- Help identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and operational efficiencies
- Develop practical experience with enterprise security tools and technologies
- Understand cybersecurity governance, risk management, and compliance requirements
- Assist with vulnerability assessment and remediation tracking
- Support security awareness and phishing simulation campaigns and email-related event remediation
- Assist with developing PowerShell or other automation scripts for cybersecurity operations
- Participate in incident response investigations and documentation development
- Review SOC daily low-severity reports
- Support IAM projects
Requirements:
- Pursuing a degree in Cybersecurity, Information Security, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
- Demonstrated interest in cybersecurity through coursework, certifications, labs, projects, or extracurricular activities
- Basic understanding of Windows operating systems and networking concepts
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment
- Strong desire to learn and adapt in a rapidly changing technology landscape
- Positive attitude
