Job Description
Data Engineering Analyst optimizing Servus Credit Union’s data warehouse, pipelines, integrations, and analytics infrastructure. Supporting data-driven financial services for Alberta members.
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the IS Architecture team to expand and optimize Data Warehouse architecture
- Optimize data collection, data flows, and distributed data access
- Design and build data pipelines and data integrations
- Support software developers, data analysts, database administrators, and data scientists on data initiatives
- Develop and manage integration tools, databases, warehouses, and analytical systems using programming, ETL tools, and data virtualization
- Build processes for data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependencies, and workload management
- Extract, transform, and load structured, unstructured, and big data from diverse sources
- Create data tools supporting analytics and data science teams
- Prepare data for predictive and prescriptive modeling
- Assist with analytics, machine learning, and predictive model deployment
- Assemble complex data sets meeting functional and non-functional business requirements
- Develop scalable data pipelines and API integrations
- Build analytics tools providing insights into customer acquisition, operational efficiency, and business performance
- Improve data models feeding business intelligence tools and promote data-driven decision making
- Monitor data quality, availability, protection controls, and ecosystem performance
- Contribute to engineering and architectural documentation
- Test reliability and performance across the data ecosystem
- Lead projects and delivery, follow DevOps procedures, and communicate progress
- Manage data access and disposal requests and coordinate remediation activities
- Identify and implement process improvements, automation, and scalable infrastructure redesigns
- Develop KPIs and conduct annual Data Architectural Maturity assessments
- Provide education and mentoring on data engineering practices
- Analyze industry trends and improve data engineering techniques
- Participate in audits, data prioritization meetings, and stakeholder meetings
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field
- 4+ years' experience in data engineering management, Python or Java, SQL, and data modeling
- Experience with Agile methods and machine learning tools
- Strong understanding of data science
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to lead teams, train others, and work independently
- Self-motivated, organized, and analytical
- Strong project, organizational, and time management skills
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication
- Skilled in documentation, facilitation, and negotiation
- Effective at collaborating with and influencing stakeholders at all levels
- Capability to solve complex problems and meet deadlines under pressure
- Eagerness to learn about the business
- Selected candidate must successfully pass a criminal background check, reference check, and credit check
- Occasional travel to Edmonton, Calgary, or Red Deer may be necessary
