Job Description

Data Scientist developing statistical and machine learning models for Nielsen’s media audience measurement business. Building production data pipelines and delivering client-focused analytics.

Responsibilities:

  • Research, design, develop, implement and test econometric, statistical, optimization and machine learning models
  • Develop forecasting, modeling and code supporting PPM Wearables audience measurement production processes
  • Develop data pipelines, execute analyses and summarize results
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to provide clear data-driven solutions and recommendations
  • Gain expertise in PPM sampling methodology, audience measurement and panel management strategies
  • Query large relational databases for analyses and requests
  • Perform complex data analysis and visualizations using Python, Tableau, R and similar tools
  • Oversee, maintain and evolve data algorithms for PPM sample methodology in a time-critical production environment
  • Maintain and update departmental procedures, checklists and metrics
  • Participate in interdepartmental teams and critical projects, including requirements writing, software development and testing
  • Respond to internal and external client requests with data-driven solutions
  • Incorporate quality checks to detect and correct errors in production processing and analysis
  • Facilitate code reviews and promote modular code, unit tests and CI/CD workflows to ensure product quality, stability and scalability

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, Data Engineering or a related field
  • 3+ years of professional work experience in Statistics, Data Science, and/or related disciplines
  • 3+ years of experience manipulating, analyzing and interpreting complex data sources
  • 3+ years of experience programming in Python, PySpark and SQL for data pipeline development
  • 3+ years of experience with data visualization using Tableau and/or similar tools
  • Experience working in cloud-based environments such as AWS
  • Experience with DevOps tools, code management and CI/CD workflows using GitLab or similar tools
  • Project management ability, including prioritizing multiple assignments
  • Ability to communicate clearly and handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Readiness to explore new solutions and rapidly iterate based on customer feedback
  • Strategic thinking and understanding of data insights’ impact on product and business objectives
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills
  • Ability to solve problems independently and within cross-functional teams
  • Nice to have: working knowledge of ANOVA, Chi-squared, correlation, regression and Student t-test
  • Nice to have: expertise querying large datasets with SQL and working with Oracle/Netezza/Data Warehouse and Data Lake structures
