Job Description
California-licensed attorney reviewing workers’ compensation deposition transcripts for Abramson Labor Group, an employee-rights law firm. Guiding clients through testimony, case updates, and next steps.
Responsibilities:
- Review deposition transcripts in detail after each deposition
- Identify key testimony, discrepancies, and case-relevant issues
- Cross-reference transcripts against case files, medical records, and prior discovery
- Update case files with new facts, admissions, and developments
- Conduct post-deposition discussions with clients
- Explain transcript significance and answer client questions
- Communicate next steps and impacts on case strategy or value
- Serve as a consistent point of contact during the post-deposition phase
- Manage a steady, high-volume review queue
- Track and enter billable time according to firm billing practices
- Flag cases requiring escalation to the assigned trial attorney or other legal team members
- Focus exclusively on reviewing completed transcripts; does not take or defend depositions
Requirements:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
- Active member of the California State Bar, in good standing
- Strong knowledge of California workers' compensation law and deposition procedure
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to explain complex legal information to clients in plain terms
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
- Ability to manage a high volume of files
- Accurate and timely billing/time-entry habits
- Prior experience reviewing depositions or transcripts in a workers' compensation or civil litigation practice preferred but not required
- Experience with client-facing case discussions preferred
- Familiarity with ALG internal case management and billing systems, or ability to learn quickly
