Job Description
DevOps Engineer building AWS and Kubernetes infrastructure for OpenObserve, an open-source observability project. Automating CI/CD, provisioning, monitoring, and production reliability.
Responsibilities:
- Build, maintain, and improve CI/CD pipelines for reliable and efficient software deployments.
- Deploy, manage, and scale workloads on Kubernetes.
- Design and manage cloud infrastructure on AWS.
- Automate infrastructure provisioning using Terraform and/or OpenTofu.
- Follow Infrastructure as Code (IaC) best practices for repeatable and scalable environments.
- Build and maintain monitoring, alerting, dashboards, and observability workflows.
- Work with tools such as Grafana and other monitoring/observability platforms.
- Monitor infrastructure and application performance, availability, and reliability.
- Troubleshoot production issues across infrastructure, networking, Kubernetes, and application environments.
- Improve system reliability, scalability, security, and deployment efficiency.
- Collaborate closely with developers to improve developer experience and deployment workflows.
- Identify repetitive operational tasks and automate them wherever possible.
Requirements:
- 3+ years of hands-on DevOps / Cloud / Infrastructure experience.
- Strong experience with Kubernetes and containerized environments.
- Good working knowledge of AWS and its core infrastructure services.
- Hands-on experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience with Terraform and/or OpenTofu.
- Strong understanding of Infrastructure as Code concepts and practices.
- Experience with observability, monitoring, logging, and alerting.
- Hands-on experience with Grafana.
- Good understanding of Linux, networking, DNS, load balancing, and cloud infrastructure fundamentals.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve production and infrastructure issues independently.
- Comfortable working in a fast-moving engineering environment.
- Experience operating large-scale or distributed systems.
- Experience with GitOps and Kubernetes deployment tools.
- Experience with Helm.
- Familiarity with Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, logs, metrics, and traces.
- Scripting/automation experience using Python, Bash, or similar tools.
- Experience supporting highly available production environments.
- Previous experience working with observability, developer infrastructure, DevOps, or cloud-native products.
