Job Description
DevOps Engineer automating epension’s digital pension infrastructure across on-premise and cloud platforms. Improving Java delivery pipelines, customer environments, monitoring, and DevOps enablement.
Responsibilities:
- Take responsibility for the on-premises platform
- Expand and standardize the Hetzner/Proxmox infrastructure using Ansible, Python scripting, and Jenkins shared libraries (Groovy)
- Orchestrate isolated customer environments on Ubuntu VMs with Tomcat, PostgreSQL, Keycloak, and RabbitMQ
- Maintain and optimize build pipelines using Gradle/Maven and deployment processes for Spring Boot and Tomcat applications
- Enable development teams as a coach and sparring partner
- Establish DevOps standards within the Community of Practice
- Document architectural decisions systematically in Confluence
- Build meaningful alerting and logging with Grafana, Loki, and LibreNMS
- Evaluate and use AI agents such as OpenCode and HypGPT to automate routine tasks, code reviews, and pipeline analyses
- Reduce the provisioning of new customer environments from two weeks to automated deployments within 1–2 days
- Work on systems, processes, and architecture as a member of the Platform Services Squad
Requirements:
- Several years of hands-on experience administering and automating Linux environments (Ubuntu)
- Strong knowledge of Ansible, Docker, and Jenkins
- Knowledge of the Java/JVM ecosystem, particularly Java, Kotlin, Spring Boot, Tomcat, Gradle, or Maven
- Understanding of build configurations and dependencies
- Hands-on mindset for on-premises infrastructure
- Ability to explain complex interrelationships clearly and share knowledge
- Enjoyment of working in agile squads (Scrum)
- Openness to AI tools and agentic programming in the DevOps workflow
- Knowledge of Apache HTTP Server, Nginx, Apache Tomcat, PostgreSQL, or security and compliance is an advantage but not required
