Job Description
Senior AWS consultant modernizing lottery systems through Salesforce integrations, CI/CD transformation and observability. Supporting CRM and data teams across AWS and Google Cloud at DVT.
Responsibilities:
- Support the client's CRM and data teams with cloud work
- Design and build integrations between Salesforce and existing AWS-hosted systems using synchronous APIs, Amazon EventBridge events and file-based batch flows on Amazon S3
- Use AWS services to build features that Salesforce does not currently offer
- Make integrations secure, reliable and supportable, including error handling, retries and replay
- Improve GitLab CI/CD and move from GitFlow to the group-standard trunk-based deployment and propagation pattern
- Improve repository security scanning with Snyk
- Set up and improve observability across AWS and Salesforce, including tracing, dashboards and alerting
- Build on Amazon CloudWatch and assess external observability tooling
- Set up GCP accounts, permissions and basic infrastructure for Google Analytics and BigQuery
- Own AWS solution architecture and lead design, environment setup, configuration, testing and implementation
- Lead and mentor engineers, set technical direction and maintain accountability for delivery quality
- Make and defend AWS architecture, security, configuration and operational decisions
- Explain and justify designs to cloud engineers, CRM stakeholders and business stakeholders
- Work with the client's existing cloud and CRM organisations
- Provide client-facing consulting and technical leadership
Requirements:
- 10+ years of hands-on AWS cloud and DevOps engineering experience, including proven team leadership experience at a senior or lead level
- Proven experience leading cloud or DevOps teams and providing technical direction across complex AWS delivery
- Demonstrable end-to-end ownership of AWS environment setup and configuration, including making architecture and implementation decisions personally
- Strong evidence of personally configuring and troubleshooting AWS environments
- Proven experience building AWS integrations with APIs such as API Gateway and Lambda, Amazon EventBridge and file-based batch flows on Amazon S3
- Strong GitLab CI/CD experience, including trunk-based development and deployment/promotion patterns
- Hands-on observability experience with tracing, dashboards and alerting using Amazon CloudWatch
- Ability to propose solution architecture and explain and justify it to engineers and business stakeholders
- Strong communication skills
- Google Cloud experience, including projects, IAM, basic infrastructure and BigQuery (advantageous)
- Salesforce integration experience, including Platform Events, Change Data Capture, REST/Bulk APIs (advantageous)
- Snyk or similar SCA/SAST tooling in CI/CD pipelines (advantageous)
- AWS X-Ray, OpenTelemetry or external observability tools such as Datadog or Grafana (advantageous)
- Infrastructure as code using Terraform, AWS CDK or CloudFormation (advantageous)
- AWS certifications such as Solutions Architect or DevOps Engineer (advantageous)
- Experience on large multi-country or multi-brand platform consolidation programmes (advantageous)
- Legal right to work in South Africa without employer sponsorship
- Matric/equivalent
