Job Description
DevOps Engineer II automating CI/CD, containers, and infrastructure for Navy readiness and training systems. Supporting DoD cybersecurity compliance across development, test, and production environments.
Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for FTM system development.
- Manage pipeline secrets, credentials, and tokens using secure vaulting mechanisms.
- Optimize pipelines, reduce build times, improve reliability, and ensure deployment-bundle traceability.
- Ensure CI/CD environments comply with DISA STIGs, RMF requirements, vulnerability-management timelines, and ATO documentation needs.
- Participate in cybersecurity reviews, accreditation activities, RMF evidence production, and audit support.
- Manage Kubernetes/OpenShift clusters, including RBAC, namespaces, network policies, secrets, probes, and monitoring integrations.
- Develop and maintain Helm charts, deployment manifests, cluster resources, and infrastructure as code.
- Implement Terraform, Ansible, or similar IaC across multiple enclaves.
- Version-control infrastructure definitions and participate in change-control and configuration-management reviews.
- Automate patching, configuration validation, log ingestion, and backups across development, test, and production environments.
- Monitor performance with Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, ELK, or similar tools; configure alerts and dashboards.
- Troubleshoot CI/CD, infrastructure, container, and application issues across complex hybrid environments.
- Collaborate with developers, systems engineers, cybersecurity personnel, database engineers, and Government stakeholders.
- Align deployment workflows and infrastructure upgrades with functionality milestones.
- Document pipeline configurations, infrastructure modules, deployment procedures, and system configurations.
- Maintain configuration-management baselines and technical artifacts for DoD audits and operational-readiness reviews.
- Provide weekly and monthly DevOps metrics, system-stability, and deployment-outcome reporting to the Program Manager and technical leads.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance; perform other duties as assigned.
- No supervisory responsibilities.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- Three (3) to five (5) years of DevOps engineering or infrastructure automation experience in enterprise or Government environments.
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools (GitLab, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Azure DevOps).
- Strong knowledge of containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes/OpenShift).
- Familiarity with DoD cybersecurity guidelines including RMF, DISA STIGs, ACAS/Tenable findings, and secure configuration baselines.
- Experience with IaC (Terraform, Ansible) and scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
- Active DoD Secret security clearance (generally, U.S. citizenship required).
- Must obtain and maintain any necessary security access and/or background checks.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience supporting Department of War or comparable federal agency or systems.
- Experience deploying workloads in government cloud environments (AWS GovCloud, Azure IL).
- Knowledge of monitoring frameworks (Prometheus/Grafana), log analytics (Splunk/ELK), and pipeline observability.
- Familiarity with microservices design patterns, API gateways, and distributed system architectures.
- Experience supporting accreditation activities or working within ATO-bound systems.
- Understanding of Navy enterprise environments, readiness systems, or FLTMPS-aligned workflows.
- Must be able to sit for long periods and perform bending, stooping, crouching, and lifting up to 20 pounds.
