Job Description
Engineering director leading HighLevel’s public APIs, monetization infrastructure, and app marketplace. Shaping developer ecosystems for an AI-powered business operating system serving SMBs worldwide.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the engineering vision for HighLevel’s Marketplace and Developer Ecosystem
- Oversee multiple squads responsible for Public APIs, monetization infrastructure, and the App Marketplace
- Build a world-class developer experience and ensure API scalability
- Drive revenue through robust monetization channels
- Mentor Engineering Managers, Staff Engineers, and Tech Leads
- Lead performance evaluations and create clear career paths for engineers
- Build resilient teams capable of managing high-traffic public APIs and complex financial transactions
- Translate business requirements into scalable technical roadmaps
- Improve processes for managing hundreds of integrations and thousands of developer apps
- Ensure agile delivery while maintaining security and governance standards
- Oversee Public API architecture, backward compatibility, versioning, and high availability
- Collaborate with Product Managers on payout automation and usage-based billing systems
- Maintain engineering quality across SDKs, Sandbox environments, and Native Integrations
- Define strategy for the App Marketplace and Partner Program with cross-functional teams
- Design extensible architectures integrating with Google, Meta, Slack, and custom solutions
Requirements:
- Extensive hands-on experience with Node.js and Vue.js (or React/Angular)
- Majority of experience in a high-growth SaaS company is a huge plus
- Proven track record of building or managing Public APIs, Developer Platforms, or App Marketplaces
- 12+ years of engineering experience
- At least 5+ years in leadership or management roles managing other managers or multiple teams
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
- Strong capability in architectural decision-making regarding API versioning, backward compatibility, and system security
