Job Description

Director leading regulatory examinations, inquiries, and enforcement responses for SunStrong Management’s solar asset portfolios. Building scalable readiness, documentation, compliance, and remediation programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the organization's response to regulatory inquiries, audits, examinations, subpoenas, data requests, and enforcement matters affecting solar asset management operations and project portfolios
  • Coordinate between the company, regulators, outside counsel, and internal stakeholders during examinations
  • Design and execute examination response plans, including timelines, document production strategies, subject-matter expert coordination, and escalation protocols
  • Serve as liaison with regulators and outside counsel, ensuring consistent, accurate, and timely communication
  • Track examination status, findings, and remediation across the solar asset portfolio and maintain a centralized examination log
  • Coordinate with Legal, Asset Management, Engineering, Finance, and Operations to gather, validate, and produce data and documentation
  • Draft and review formal regulatory responses, data requests, and correspondence
  • Maintain document management protocols and privilege logs
  • Build and maintain a regulatory examination readiness program, including mock audits, response playbooks, and staff training
  • Monitor regulatory requirements affecting solar generation assets, interconnection compliance, RPS/REC programs, tax equity structures, and market participation rules
  • Identify examination trends and root causes, driving corrective actions and process improvements
  • Support policies, procedures, and internal controls that reduce regulatory risk
  • Prepare executive- and board-level briefings on examination status, findings, and risk mitigation
  • Advise senior leadership on regulatory risk implications for acquisitions, financing, and portfolio transactions
  • Manage and mentor a team of regulatory analysts/specialists
  • Engage with external counsel, consultants, and industry associations on regulatory strategy and examination trends

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience managing relationships with and responses to third-party regulators and investors, including state regulatory agencies, federal agencies, examination bodies, and institutional investors or capital partners
  • Demonstrated experience running multi-jurisdiction regulatory response or examination programs with concurrent matters, independent scopes, and deadlines
  • Experience designing, improving, and scaling regulatory response processes
  • Experience managing document collection and production at volume across multiple source systems and business units
  • Proven ability to drive cross-functional accountability without direct authority
  • Strong written work product, including first drafts suitable for legal and compliance review
  • Sound judgment handling confidential, privileged, and sensitive material
  • Preferred background in mortgage servicing, consumer finance, solar finance, or another heavily regulated consumer-facing industry
  • Experience with state licensing examinations and audit readiness
  • Familiarity with information request and subpoena response mechanics
  • Experience managing outside counsel relationships and external legal spending
  • JD is not required
  • Ability to work for a remote position
  • Successful completion of a post-offer/pre-placement drug test and medical examination if required by the role
  • Pre-placement verification of information and qualifications provided during the selection process
