Job Description

Disability Claims Analyst managing long-term disability claims for The Standard, a provider of insurance and retirement solutions. Analyzing eligibility, making benefit decisions, and managing claim liability while supporting claimants and internal partners.

Responsibilities:

  • Investigate and analyze medical, occupational, and policy information to determine LTD eligibility and resolve discrepancies within required timeframes
  • Make and communicate disability decisions and issue accurate benefits
  • Manage claims with appropriate liability and disability management strategies
  • Monitor medical updates, vocational factors, policy provisions, and deductible income for timely claim resolution
  • Provide proactive, professional communication to claimants, policyholders, and internal partners
  • Resolve issues and support client-facing activities as needed
  • Approve decisions from less-experienced staff
  • Provide training
  • Ensure accurate claim data and reserve liability
  • Participate actively in team and department projects and issues

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum eighteen months of progressively responsible experience in disability claims administration, or equivalent combination of education and/or relevant experience
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in LTD claims highly preferred
  • Skills in timely, customer-focused disability claim account management and administration
  • Ability to analyze and apply medical, technical, contractual, and legal information
  • Working knowledge of Federal, State, and local laws and regulations affecting claim investigation, disability decisions, and taxation of benefits
  • Successful completion of criminal background investigation and employment, education, and licensing verification
  • Must be bondable
