Job Description
Drug discovery scientist designing source-grounded research challenges for Mercor’s frontier AI training. Creating prompts, data rooms, and grading documents for mechanistic reasoning.
Responsibilities:
- Design realistic research problems for frontier AI models in drug research and development
- Identify the hidden basin and forcing chain that make one conclusion inevitable
- Assemble a source-grounded data room from real data, ensuring every decisive value traces to a real source
- Write grading documents that evaluate submitted memos on substance rather than style or method
- Run verification and calibration before submission
- Revise tasks when reviewers request changes
- Serve as final authority on scientific and difficulty questions for assigned tasks
Requirements:
- Working expertise in mechanistic enzymology, structure-guided peptide or antibody design, fragment-based discovery, or structure-based medicinal chemistry
- PhD or equivalent industry track record
- Ability to pose rigorous, defensible research problems that cannot be shortcut by pattern matching or lookup
- Comfortable judging reasoning quality, not just final answers
- Commitment of at least 20 hours per week, up to 40 hours
- Must use a browser-based studio plus Claude Code
- Claude Max subscription required
