Job Description
Engineering Manager leading a Canadian HealthTech company’s Go/React engineering team. Balancing hands-on production coding with technical leadership, agile delivery, and team development.
Responsibilities:
- Take ownership of the engineering function in collaboration with the CEO and wider business
- Write, review, and ship production code
- Shape technical architecture and engineering decisions
- Lead, coach, and develop the software engineering team
- Own sprint execution, agile delivery, and roadmap planning
- Maintain high standards around DevOps, CI/CD, reliability, privacy, and security
- Collaborate with Product, Sales, Customer Success, and other stakeholders
- Support hiring and development of the engineering team
- Translate technical decisions into clear business outcomes
- Report directly to the CEO
Requirements:
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience
- Recent hands-on experience writing production code
- Experience with software architecture and technical decision-making
- Leadership experience as an Engineering Manager, Tech Lead, or Team Lead
- Experience coaching and mentoring engineers
- Strong understanding of agile product delivery
- Experience in a startup or fast-moving technology environment
- Excellent communication skills in English
- Ability to work autonomously and take ownership quickly
- Experience with Go/Golang, React, PostgreSQL, and AWS is highly relevant but not required
- Strong engineering fundamentals and hands-on experience with modern web applications
- Ability to cover Halifax / Atlantic time business hours
