Job Description
Environmental Engineer working within RTI's hydrology and flood risk team. Contributing to water resources projects and modeling efforts in a collaborative environment.
Responsibilities:
- Support hydrologic, hydraulic, and reservoir modeling projects, including data analysis, model setup, calibration, and interpretation of results
- Collaborate with the WARES team to apply RTI’s water resources modeling tools in support of project execution
- Collect, analyze, and summarize hydrologic and technical data
- Develop and calibrate hydrologic, hydraulic, and river basin simulation models
- Use spreadsheets, scripts, and databases to manage data and improve data processing and quality control workflows
- Share work products and collaborate effectively with internal team members
- Make informed decisions based on data, best practices, and team input
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree at least 3 years of experience; or Master’s degree + 0 years of experience; or Equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience in at least one of the following areas: PFHA Hydrologic, hydraulic, watershed, or reservoir modeling (setup, calibration, analysis)
- Statistical analysis of hydrometeorological time series
- Collection, QA/QC, and interpretation of hydrologic data
- Experience with technical documentation and report writing
- Experience with water resources statistics
- Basic geospatial processing and mapping experience using ArcGIS or QGIS
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and familiarity with relational databases (SQL)
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and work in a team environment
- Excellent attention to detail, ability to do accurate and error-free work with complex datasets
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
