Job Description
Forward Deployed Engineer tackling defense and national security problems through technology solutions using Palantir Foundry. Collaborating with customers to optimize real-time situational awareness and force protection.
Responsibilities:
- Partner directly with defense and security customers to understand their highest-priority situational awareness and force protection problems, then scope solutions against them.
- Design, build, and deploy solutions on Palantir Foundry that operationalize First Alert — including data pipelines, ontology models, and operator-facing applications.
- Integrate Dataminr's real-time intelligence into customer workflows, common operating pictures, and existing command-and-control tooling.
- Build and fine-tune custom widgets where needed to enable customers to best operationalize real-time intelligence.
- Own solutions end to end, working with minimal supervision and making sound technical decisions independently.
- Debug across the full stack — infrastructure, networking, and application layers — often in restricted, disconnected, or on-premise environments.
- Act as a trusted technical advisor to customer engineers and operators, and channel their feedback back into the Dataminr product.
- Travel to customer sites and operations centers across Europe as needed (approximately 25–75% of the time).
Requirements:
- A strong engineering background, ideally in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related technical field.
- Palantir Foundry expertise: hands-on experience building on Palantir Foundry — data pipelines, ontology, Compute Modules, Code Repositories / Workbooks, and application development.
- Programming: proficiency in one or more of Python, Java, SQL, TypeScript/JavaScript, Bash, or Go.
- 3+ years of professional software engineering or forward-deployed / solutions engineering experience delivering production systems.
- Familiarity with containers (Docker / Podman) and orchestration (Kubernetes / OpenShift), plus solid Linux, networking, and on-premise infrastructure fundamentals.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders and to thrive in a fast-changing environment with iterative, mission-driven objectives.
- NATO Secret clearance: an active NATO Secret security clearance, or eligibility and willingness to obtain one.
Benefits:
- Flexible work arrangements
- Generous PTO and sick leave
- Professional development opportunities
