Job Description
Freelance SEO/GEO Consultant supporting a German digital agency serving law firms. Optimizing WordPress websites, rankings, and visibility across AI search systems.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct keyword and prompt research for traditional search engines and AI-powered search systems
- Create editorial plans based on keyword and topic clusters
- Develop SEO content briefs for external writers
- Identify content gaps and new topic opportunities
- Optimize page titles, meta descriptions, headings, internal linking structures, and other page elements in WordPress
- Optimize existing website copy for keywords, search intent, and structure
- Prepare for regular client meetings through analyses, reports, and presentation materials
- Analyze the SEO status of client websites and provide SEO support for launches, relaunches, and migrations
- Identify optimization opportunities and develop specific recommendations for action
- Conduct market and competitor analyses
- Coordinate initiatives with the SEO Manager and teams in editorial, web development, and project management
- Check crawling, indexing, redirects, canonical tags, and status codes
- Evaluate and monitor SEO performance using Google Search Console and SISTRIX
- Analyze ranking losses and traffic declines
- Monitor new and lost backlinks and add directory listings
- Analyze visibility in Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Gemini
- Develop initiatives to optimize visibility in AI search systems (GEO)
Requirements:
- Several years of SEO experience, ideally at an agency or managing multiple client projects simultaneously
- Proficiency with Google Search Console, SISTRIX, and commonly used crawling tools such as Screaming Frog
- Strong understanding of technical SEO and WordPress
- Experience with GEO and visibility in AI search systems
- Experience working remotely and using digital communication and project management tools
- Reliable, with the ability to prioritize tasks across multiple projects and deliver them on time
- Structured, self-directed working style and enthusiasm for team coordination
- Excellent German language skills, both written and spoken
- A plus: experience with websites in the legal or consulting sectors
