Job Description
Full Stack Engineer building Kestra’s open-source data orchestration platform. Developing Java/Micronaut backends, Vue/TypeScript interfaces, integrations, and data-aware pipeline features for global teams.
Responsibilities:
- Build features end to end from the Java Micronaut backend, including REST APIs, orchestration engine, plugins, tests, and documentation
- Develop data-aware orchestration for assets, lineage, freshness, and data quality
- Build and improve integrations with dbt, Fivetran, Airbyte, cloud warehouses, and other modern data-stack tools
- Work on the flow editor, topology views, dashboards, and execution monitoring UI used by data teams
- Collaborate with the Product Manager and engineers to scope and deliver features in 8-week release cycles
- Review pull requests and discuss changes publicly on GitHub
- Engage with the open-source community
Requirements:
- Hands-on data engineering experience building or operating data pipelines
- Strong experience with Java and a modern backend framework; Micronaut used, with Spring Boot or Quarkus experience suitable
- Solid frontend skills with Vue 3 and TypeScript; willingness to develop deep Vue expertise if experienced with React or another modern framework
- Experience with Pinia, Vite, and Monaco editor
- Good knowledge of SQL and relational databases, including PostgreSQL, MySQL, or H2
- Understanding of distributed systems, including queues, schedulers, and workers processing jobs reliably at scale
- Comfortable with Docker and CI/CD pipelines
- Excellent communication and clarity in writing; comfortable discussing technical decisions publicly in GitHub repositories
- Full ownership mentality and ability to iterate quickly based on feedback
- Comfortable working with globally distributed teams across time zones
- Experience with dbt, Fivetran, Airbyte, Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks, Airflow, Dagster, or Prefect
- Bonus: experience with Kafka, Elasticsearch, Kubernetes, AWS, GCP, Azure, open-source contributions, or B2B software/open-source companies
