Job Description

Global Supplier Development Engineer at Hitachi Energy ensuring supplier quality and cost-effectiveness across Europe. Implementing quality assurance processes and leading supplier assessments.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure our suppliers deliver high-quality materials while maintaining cost-effectiveness.
  • Implement proactive quality assurance processes to enhance the quality and delivery performance of our supply base.
  • Lead supplier assessments, manage development initiatives, oversee parts approvals, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Conduct SAP Ariba assessments and execute global on-site audits to ensure supplier compliance and capability.
  • Implement improvement actions at suppliers based on audit findings and identified process improvements.
  • Oversee the global parts approval process to ensure supplier materials and components meet technical and operational requirements.
  • Monitor supplier performance indicators and drive the annual Supplier Performance Evaluation process.
  • Develop and implement action plans for supplier performance recovery.
  • Resolve escalated non-conformities with suppliers by leading root cause analysis.
  • Drive continuous improvement in supplier management processes at a global level.
  • Lead key SCM tool/system improvement projects within Supplier Quality and Development domain.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Engineering (Chemical, Process, Materials, Mechanical, Polymer science or similar).
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in supplier development and supplier quality management
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions
  • In-depth knowledge of chemicals, gaskets and/or insulation material production processes, specifications, and quality standards in transformer industry (or similar)
  • Solid experience with production process assessment.
  • Deep knowledge of Quality and Continuous Improvement tools (Kaizen, DMAIC, A3, 8D, 5Why Analysis).
  • Expertise in APQP/PPAP, P-FMEA, Process Control Plan, SPC, and inspection processes.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with a structured, proactive, and result-oriented approach.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective interaction in an international environment
  • Proven experience with process improvement and standardization across regions.
  • Willingness to travel internationally for supplier audits and assessments frequently.
