Job Description

External Lighting/Street Lighting Engineer at Fixatex performing installations and maintenance of street and external lighting across London. Ensuring compliance with safety standards and delivering quality service in social housing and local authority sectors.

Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for completing but not limited to installation, maintenance and servicing of Street Lighting Furniture (Lighting Columns, Feeder Pillars, Lit Signs & Bollards) & External Lighting.
  • Interpret street lighting underground cable drawings and specifications for a Street Lighting or Bollard install.
  • Work safely and in accordance with current health and safety and Electrical Regulations and standards.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and competence in working with street lighting furniture.
  • Maintain and repair/replace components within street lighting furniture (cut outs, ballasts, lamps, ignitors, photocells, lanterns).
  • Undertake ground works ranging from trenching to install new ducting/cabling to excavating and exposing underground faults.
  • Investigate and diagnose underground faults using drawings and a CAT/Genny.
  • Complete full installations of street lighting furniture (columns, signs, bollards, feeder pillars) and external lighting (floodlights/bulkheads).
  • Carry out routine visual and electrical inspections on street lighting furniture.
  • Complete all paperwork and job reports via the Oneserve application.
  • Ensure all work conducted is in compliance with BS 7671 regulations.

Requirements:

  • In-depth knowledge of the Street Lighting industry
  • Installation and maintenance experience.
  • Strong understanding of electrical safety standards and legislations
  • A proactive and responsible approach to health and safety in the workplace.
  • Ability to use mobile devices to complete electronic job sheets and certification accurately.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Highly organised and reliable.
  • Takes ownership of outcomes with high degree of accountability and integrity.
  • Electrical Level 3 Diploma
  • 18th Edition
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in a similar role
  • IPAF GS39, NRSWA or 2391 (Desirable)
  • A full UK driving license
