Job Description
Industrial Hygienist / Process Safety Engineer red-teaming frontier AI models on chemical safety and misuse. Writing prompts, evaluating responses, and documenting technical rationales.
Responsibilities:
- Write challenging single-turn prompts in the chemistry and chemical safety domain
- Label prompts across benign, dual-use, and adversarial levels
- Evaluate AI model responses against a defined policy standard
- Judge whether model responses handled technical requests correctly
- Write reference answers and explain the technical reasoning behind them
- Distinguish routine professional questions from requests with potential misuse intent
- Produce written rationales that non-specialists can understand
- Read and write about misuse scenarios in the field for sustained periods
Requirements:
- Experience assessing real exposures and real process hazards and signing off on controls
- Relevant background such as certified industrial hygiene, process hazard analysis, toxic release and dispersion modelling, ventilation/containment/PPE programme design for chemical hazards, or regulatory compliance
- Knowledge of exposure assessment, sampling strategy, and control banding
- Experience with HAZOP, LOPA, what-if studies, and management of change
- Experience with consequence analysis and AEGL/ERPG criteria
- Knowledge of PSM, Seveso, COMAH, OSHA, or national equivalents
- Ability to write challenging single-turn prompts labelled benign, dual-use, and adversarial
- Ability to evaluate model responses against a defined policy standard
- Ability to write reference answers and technical reasoning
- Strong writing skills; every judgment must include a rationale understandable to a non-specialist
- Prior technical writing, published research, or expert witness experience is a strong signal; applicants should include a sample or link
- Must not use classified or export-controlled information or information covered by an NDA or prepublication review obligation
- Relevant red-teaming experience is ideal
