Job Description

Principal Supplier Quality Specialist improving engineered-item suppliers for Collins Aerospace. Driving qualification, corrective action, PPAP, and continuous improvement across aerospace operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct supplier qualification/certification, assessment, monitoring, escape management, and quality issue resolution processes
  • Analyze quality data and recommend supplier- and part-specific issue resolutions and corrective actions
  • Research and explain root-cause analysis and problem-solving methods, including Red-X and 8D
  • Develop corrective and preventive actions for systemic process and product-design problems in supplier-provided products
  • Conduct supplier qualification/certification, source inspection, material release, Corrective Action Boards, and DQ Clinics with suppliers
  • Support the UTC Supplier Gold program to promote continuous improvement and sustainability
  • Review processes and metrics and recommend improvements to ensure suppliers meet work-transfer and process-change requirements
  • Support Resourcing Gate and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) acceptance
  • Work with suppliers and internal engineering partners to solve complex problems
  • Support supplier onboarding, certification, source inspections, and operational readiness

Requirements:

  • Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience
  • Strong Engineered Items background
  • Experience working with suppliers and/or engineering in a supply chain operations environment, including monitoring, auditing, or developing suppliers/operations, or equivalent
  • Knowledge of Quality Regulations and Quality Core Tools
  • Knowledge of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP)
  • Practical Problem Solving knowledge
  • Knowledge of international management system standards and authorities/regulations/standards
  • Knowledge of QMS
  • Auditing/Assessing knowledge
  • Risk Management and Continuous Improvement (Lean Six Sigma) knowledge desirable
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering/industrial engineering or similar field preferred
  • Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of education
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • U.S. citizenship is required
