Job Description
Logistics Supervisor overseeing transportation, warehouse, and distribution operations for Ryder. Coordinating teams, schedules, KPIs, safety, customer service, and performance improvement.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise, coordinate and oversee day-to-day logistics operations
- Plan and review logistics processes with the Logistics Manager to ensure company standards and customer service specifications are met
- Establish work schedules and procedures and coordinate worker activities for optimal shift/team logistics
- Be accountable for site Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Collaborate with the customer on all aspects of operations
- Meet with team members to monitor progress, track performance, coach and counsel, and recognize successes
- Cultivate team spirit through Diversity and Inclusion initiatives and improve internal processes
- Conduct team member performance evaluations and recommend performance awards or merit increases when appropriate
- Address performance problems through corrective action and disciplinary processes
- Understand labor agreements and maintain positive labor relations
- Implement health, safety and security initiatives and ensure adherence to company rules and policies
- Provide orientation and necessary information, technology and materials to employees and Lead Hands
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- H.S. diploma/GED required
- 0 to one (1) year of direct supervisory/leadership experience required
- One (1) year or more experience in a transportation, warehouse or distribution environment preferred
- Ability to supervise, coordinate and oversee logistics operations
- Strong planning, leadership, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, with excellent time management and follow-up practices
- Ability to create and maintain professional relationships across all organizational levels
- Understanding of labor agreements and labor relations
- Commitment to health, safety and security practices
