Job Description
AECOM archaeology technician conducting fieldwork for infrastructure and environmental projects in the Pacific Northwest. Collecting scientific data, operating equipment, and documenting archaeological project activities.
Responsibilities:
- Perform archaeological fieldwork under the supervision of a Crew Chief, Field Director and/or Principal Investigator
- Perform a variety of tasks supporting project staff
- Gather and maintain scientific data for supervisors, including environmental sampling, operations and maintenance, and client-site inspections
- Assist with calculations and set up and operate equipment
- Inspect equipment and installations for compliance with specifications
- Maintain proper project documentation
- Collect and enter data and apply technical principles and theories under supervision
- Travel overnight for field work sessions as needed
- Support field projects primarily in Oregon and Washington State
Requirements:
- High school graduation plus 4 years of relevant experience, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, with archaeological fieldwork in the PNW region
- Valid driver's license with a good driving record
- US Citizenship required
- Flexibility to travel overnight for field work sessions
- Bachelor's Degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or related field preferred
- 5+ years of experience with archaeological survey, testing, excavation, and monitoring preferred
- Completion of an archaeological field school highly desired
- Experience with geospatial technology, including GPS and GIS preferred
- Computer proficiency, including familiarity with Microsoft Office preferred
