Job Description
Part-time archaeology technician conducting supervised fieldwork for AECOM’s environmental infrastructure projects. Collecting data, documenting projects, and supporting archaeological surveys, testing, excavation, and monitoring across Oregon and Washington.
Responsibilities:
- Perform archaeological fieldwork under the supervision of a Crew Chief, Field Director, and/or Principal Investigator
- Perform a variety of tasks supporting project staff
- Gather and maintain specified records of scientific data for supervisors
- Conduct environmental sampling, operations and maintenance, and inspections at client sites as needed
- Assist with calculations
- Set up and operate equipment
- Inspect equipment and installations for compliance with specifications
- Maintain proper project documentation
- Collect and enter data
- Apply technical principles and theories under supervision
- Travel overnight for field work sessions, primarily in Oregon and Washington
Requirements:
- High school graduation plus 4 years of relevant experience, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, with archaeological fieldwork in the PNW region
- Valid driver's license with a good driving record
- Ability to travel for projects, including overnight field work sessions
- US Citizenship required
- Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or related field
- Preferred: 5+ years of experience with archaeological survey, testing, excavation, and monitoring
- Preferred: Completion of an archaeological field school
- Experience with geospatial technology, including GPS and GIS
- Computer proficiency, including familiarity with Microsoft Office
- Candidates based in Portland, OR or Seattle, WA
