Job Description
Network Engineer delivering Ciena high-speed connectivity solutions and post-sales technical support in Germany. Supporting deployments, migrations, acceptance testing, and network design alignment.
Responsibilities:
- Lead solution delivery activities, including remote deployment support, network migrations, and acceptance testing
- Support partner engineers during deployments and act as an escalation point for technical queries
- Review and validate Technical Deployment Package content with internal and external stakeholders
- Collaborate with Sales Engineers, Project Managers, Technical Support, and Field Service to resolve design or product-related issues
- Maintain detailed as-built documentation for future upgrades and reference
- Participate in customer kick-off calls
- Guide pre-sales teams to align network design with serviceability standards
- Deliver network solutions and provide post-sales technical support
- Support seamless deployment, reconfiguration, and ongoing improvement of Ciena solutions
Requirements:
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, or related discipline
- Experience in a network engineering or related technical role
- Basic theoretical and/or practical knowledge of Layer 0/1, including SDH, DWDM, ROADM, and Control Plane
- Knowledge of Layer 2-3 and IP protocols
- Scripting/DevOps knowledge, such as Python, Java, or Ansible
- Fluency in German (native) and English (written and verbal)
- Proficiency in MS Office applications, including Visio, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Ability to manage multiple projects, analyze technical data, and translate designs into deployable solutions
- Ability and flexibility to travel approximately 25%
- Ability to support night-time maintenance windows approximately 25%
- Experience collaborating in matrixed teams across engineering, support, and field operations
- Strong documentation and process development skills
