Job Description
Network Engineer assessing and modernizing secure networks for Koniag’s federal government customers. Designing compliant architectures with logging, IDS, monitoring, and NIST-aligned controls.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct a comprehensive assessment of existing networks
- Identify network configurations, analyze traffic patterns, and review security measures
- Design a modernized network architecture incorporating centralized logging, intrusion detection systems, and monitoring tools
- Ensure the architecture meets NERC-CIP, FISMA, and NIST SP 800 series regulatory standards
- Advise on procurement, installation, configuration, and testing of network devices
- Ensure proper integration of network devices
- Enable knowledge transfer for ongoing operations and maintenance
- Develop compliance documentation, policies, and procedures related to network engineering
- Interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field from an accredited institution
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in network engineering
- Proven expertise in network security best practices
- Knowledge of NERC-CIP, FISMA, and NIST SP 800 series regulatory compliance standards
- Experience with network design and implementation
- Experience conducting network assessments, requirements analysis, and capacity planning
- Familiarity with change management processes, testing environments, and issue resolution
- Proficiency in network protocols, routing, switching, and network security technologies, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, and VPNs
- Strong understanding of network architecture, QoS, and network performance optimization
- Expertise in access control, intrusion detection, and threat mitigation
- Ability to develop network design documentation, policies, and procedures
- Experience leading and executing network implementation, configuration, and testing activities
- Familiarity with network monitoring tools and backup and recovery procedures
- Ability to obtain a Public Trust
- Must be within 30 minutes of Mission, Texas
