Job Description

Network Engineer assessing and modernizing secure networks for Koniag’s federal government customers. Designing compliant architectures with logging, IDS, monitoring, and NIST-aligned controls.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct a comprehensive assessment of existing networks
  • Identify network configurations, analyze traffic patterns, and review security measures
  • Design a modernized network architecture incorporating centralized logging, intrusion detection systems, and monitoring tools
  • Ensure the architecture meets NERC-CIP, FISMA, and NIST SP 800 series regulatory standards
  • Advise on procurement, installation, configuration, and testing of network devices
  • Ensure proper integration of network devices
  • Enable knowledge transfer for ongoing operations and maintenance
  • Develop compliance documentation, policies, and procedures related to network engineering
  • Interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in network engineering
  • Proven expertise in network security best practices
  • Knowledge of NERC-CIP, FISMA, and NIST SP 800 series regulatory compliance standards
  • Experience with network design and implementation
  • Experience conducting network assessments, requirements analysis, and capacity planning
  • Familiarity with change management processes, testing environments, and issue resolution
  • Proficiency in network protocols, routing, switching, and network security technologies, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, and VPNs
  • Strong understanding of network architecture, QoS, and network performance optimization
  • Expertise in access control, intrusion detection, and threat mitigation
  • Ability to develop network design documentation, policies, and procedures
  • Experience leading and executing network implementation, configuration, and testing activities
  • Familiarity with network monitoring tools and backup and recovery procedures
  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust
  • Must be within 30 minutes of Mission, Texas
