Job Description

Orthopedic Surgeon providing expert medical consultation and testimony services as independent contractor for legal cases. Involves analysis of orthopedic injuries and conditions based on medical expertise.

Responsibilities:

  • Review medical records, imaging studies, and other documentation related to orthopedic injuries and conditions
  • Prepare comprehensive written reports and expert opinions based on medical record review and examination findings
  • Conduct thorough medical examinations of plaintiffs/defendants as requested
  • Provide expert testimony at depositions, trials, and other legal proceedings via telephone, video conference, or in-person appearance
  • Collaborate with attorneys to provide medical expertise and strategic insights
  • Stay current with medical literature, research, and developments in orthopedic medicine and surgery
  • Maintain detailed time records and submit accurate invoices in accordance with company procedures
  • Out-of-state travel may be required with short notice for testimony and examinations

Requirements:

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree
  • Board certification in Orthopedic Surgery
  • Current, unrestricted medical license in good standing
  • Maintenance of appropriate certifications and continuing education requirements
  • Minimum 5 years of clinical experience in orthopedic surgery
  • Previous expert witness or forensic consultation experience preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to explain complex medical concepts in layman's terms
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities
  • Professional demeanor and appearance for testimony
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines without oversight
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records and computer systems
