Job Description

Entry-level Patient Access Concierge supporting registration, insurance verification, scheduling, and authorizations for Abax Health’s healthcare technology services. Delivering trained, supervised patient support remotely across the United States while protecting confidential health information.

Responsibilities:

  • Support patient registration, insurance verification, appointment scheduling, and prior authorization activities under guidance and supervision
  • Collect and enter patient demographic, insurance, and clinical information
  • Verify patient identity and maintain complete, accurate patient records
  • Confirm required documentation is complete before scheduled services
  • Verify basic insurance eligibility, benefits, and referral requirements
  • Obtain and document straightforward prior authorizations and referrals
  • Escalate insurance and authorization issues outside the role’s scope
  • Schedule, reschedule, and cancel routine patient appointments
  • Respond to patient, provider, and client inquiries by phone, email, or other channels
  • Provide friendly, attentive customer service and resolve simple routine issues
  • Maintain accurate documentation in assigned systems using templates and checklists
  • Protect confidential patient information in accordance with HIPAA requirements
  • Follow client, payer, and organizational policies and procedures
  • Participate in training, shadowing, coaching, team meetings, and process discussions
  • Meet productivity, quality, attendance, service, and other team metrics
  • Ask questions and seek feedback to improve accuracy and efficiency
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 0 to 2 years of customer service or healthcare experience required
  • Prior healthcare or Patient Access experience is not required
  • Prior EMR experience is not required; training is provided
  • Experience using EMR systems such as Epic or Cerner is a plus but not required
  • Basic computer literacy, including ability to navigate multiple software applications at once
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to follow established procedures and escalate issues outside of scope
  • Ability to manage a steady volume of routine tasks
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment with regular supervision and support
  • Reliable high-speed internet
  • Private, quiet, focused workspace protecting patient confidentiality
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods while working at a computer and using a telephone or headset
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with patients, providers, and colleagues
  • Ability to handle high-volume calls and inquiries, including phone communication for up to 8 hours per day
  • Frequent typing and data entry across multiple software applications
  • Occasional overtime may be required based on business needs
  • Must protect confidential patient information in accordance with HIPAA requirements
