Job Description

PLC Engineer developing and programming electronic control systems for large-scale data centers. Collaborating with clients and teams to ensure precise automation across HVAC, mechanical, and electrical systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Meet with clients to understand mechanical, electrical, and automation requirements for large-scale facility systems.
  • Develop PLC programs to control HVAC and mechanical systems supporting tightly regulated data center environments.
  • Implement customer-requested changes and updates to existing PLC databases and control strategies.
  • Provide technical expertise during client meetings and design reviews.
  • Support field and commissioning teams during system start-up, troubleshooting, and validation activities.
  • Collaborate with contractors and vendors to ensure successful integration of equipment, controls, and sub-systems.
  • Debug installation issues during static and dynamic commissioning of building automation and special systems.
  • Diagnose and resolve system errors in PLC logic, hardware, and communication networks.
  • Document programming workflows, logic changes, and system configurations for project turnover.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience as a PLC Programmer/Engineer
  • Experience with Studio 5000 / Rockwell Automation software
  • Proven experience programming complex chiller or boiler systems (central plants)
  • Experience developing redundancy strategies and programming redundant PLC controller managers
  • Strong organization, task management, and documentation skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, highly collaborative engineering environment
  • Self-directed, proactive, and capable of managing work with minimal oversight
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 25-30%, including potential for extended site assignment
  • Preferred Bachelor’s degree in Software, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering
  • Experience with Ignition SCADA, HMIs, or EPMS/BMS integrations
  • Data center or hyperscale infrastructure experience
