Job Description
Principal Architect leading complex custom software and AI systems for Ingeno’s manufacturing and defence clients. Standardizing engineering practices, AI integration, and technology strategy across the firm.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as principal/lead architect on Ingeno's most complex and highest-risk client engagements
- Act as the technical escalation point for delivery teams facing architecture-level challenges
- Lead solution architecture during Strategic Discovery and Solution Design phases for flagship accounts
- Provide technical risk review and sign-off on statements of work above a defined complexity threshold
- Own and continuously evolve Ingeno's five-phase Development Process Framework
- Run architecture reviews for projects above a defined size or complexity threshold
- Own phase-level KPI and performance measurement frameworks
- Translate retrospective and post-mortem lessons into concrete process improvements
- Standardize estimation methodology across delivery teams
- Review and approve estimates above a defined threshold before client communication
- Define AI usage strategies for internal operations and client projects
- Optimize product and software development processes through AI
- Define guardrails and best practices for safe, responsible AI use, including sensitive client data handling
- Establish integration and interoperability standards for LLMs, RAG, vector databases, and ML models
- Oversee build-vs-buy decisions for AI tooling and infrastructure
- Maintain consistent AI usage standards across the organization
- Establish company technology strategies with senior leadership and participate in implementation
- Contribute to the evolution of the technical competency ladder
- Provide technical solutioning and SOW risk review for complex sales opportunities
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- 12+ years of software engineering experience, including significant time in architecture roles
- Proven track record architecting complex, production-grade systems in a client services / consulting environment
- Direct experience integrating AI/ML components (LLMs, RAG, vector databases) into production systems
- Experience standardizing engineering practices across multiple teams (SDLC, estimation, code quality)
- Bilingual (French/English), spoken and written
- Experience in regulated or high-compliance sectors (e.g., defence, healthcare) is an asset
- Strong communication skills, comfortable working with both hands-on delivery teams and executive leadership
- Pragmatic approach balancing standardization rigor with delivery-team autonomy and speed
- Credible technical leadership while remaining hands-on
- Ability to manage a dual mandate and protect time for both sides of the role
- Strong change-management instincts
