Job Description

Principal Software Engineer advancing AI-powered SaaS and desktop applications at insightsoftware. Integrating LLMs, modernizing legacy architectures, and leading AI-first engineering practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Evangelize and champion AI usage within Software Development
  • Integrate AI capabilities into product features, including agentic workflows and AI-assisted user experiences
  • Provide technical leadership in solving complex software development challenges
  • Design and implement robust, scalable, and high-performing backend solutions using .NET/.NET Core, C#, and SQL
  • Own the full development lifecycle from requirements through testing
  • Produce clean, reusable, and maintainable code
  • Lead, critique, and coach others in code reviews and architecture discussions
  • Identify dependencies and resolve impediments for other engineers
  • Interact with product owners and stakeholders to clarify requirements and translate them into well-architected solutions
  • Participate in Agile planning, refinement, and retrospective ceremonies
  • Work across strategic product initiatives, including AI-centric product solutions, new modules and applications, legacy modernization, and application operations optimization
  • Work in cross-functional product teams alongside Engineers and QA Engineers following Agile SDLC

Requirements:

  • 8+ years of experience designing and developing SaaS web applications using JavaScript, .NET and C#, Java or equivalent
  • Demonstrated application in the use of AI tools within the Software Development space (Claude, Copilot, Devin, Lovable, etc.)
  • Hands-on experience integrating LLMs into production software, including prompt engineering and API integration with OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, or similar
  • Experience with data replication patterns, ETL pipelines, or connector/adapter framework design
  • Strong experience modernizing legacy architectures
  • Ability to read, rapidly understand, diagnose, and port from legacy codebases
  • Expertise in database security principles and best practices
  • Ability to mentor junior and mid-level engineers in best practices
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across engineering, product, QA, and executive stakeholders
  • Familiarity with enterprise financial systems, including ERPs, GL platforms, FP&A, or reporting tools, is a nice to have
