Job Description

Principal Software Engineer developing and supporting Linux C/C++ air traffic management systems at RTX. Solving complex safety-of-life aviation software issues for global civil and military customers.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain software packaged into ATMS products
  • Maintain documentation and work instructions required to meet ATS SED’s high-maturity software engineering standards and processes
  • Participate in the agile process, including daily standups, sprint planning, retrospectives, backlog grooming, and story pointing
  • Work with an integrated engineering team in a highly collaborative environment
  • Communicate frequently with engineering team members, program management, and external stakeholders
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and solve complex system issues
  • Develop and support safety-of-life air traffic management systems used to control and monitor civil and military aviation traffic worldwide

Requirements:

  • Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience
  • Experience developing, integrating, testing, and validating software components in a Unix/Linux environment
  • Experience with the complete software development lifecycle using C/C++
  • U.S. citizenship is absolutely required
  • Proficiency with scripting languages such as Bash and Python
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and GIT
  • Experience in software testing or debugging source code
  • Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker, Podman, or Kubernetes
