Job Description

Product Director owning Unit4 ERP strategy for higher education and K-12 institutions. Translating sector, finance, compliance, and AI needs into scalable products.

Responsibilities:

  • Own the Higher Education and K-12 product vision, strategy, and multi-horizon roadmap
  • Align the product roadmap with Unit4's platform strategy and commercial growth targets
  • Lead a prioritized product backlog with dedicated engineering capacity
  • Define outcomes, success metrics, release plans, and quality criteria
  • Translate sector knowledge into product requirements, opportunity sizing, and build-vs-partner decisions
  • Define industry-specific solution blueprints, reference configurations, and pre-built templates
  • Work with horizontal product teams across finance, HR, procurement, and research management
  • Partner on launch readiness, pricing, packaging, and field enablement
  • Engage strategic customers and the HE Industry Board to validate roadmap direction and co-innovate
  • Ensure regulatory, accessibility, research-compliance, and provincial requirements are reflected in the roadmap
  • Monitor competitors including Ellucian, Workday, Microsoft, and Tribal Group
  • Work with partners to extend value for Higher Education and K-12 customers
  • Own feature outcomes and track adoption, usage, and customer impact after launch
  • Serve as the internal authority on the Higher Education and K-12 verticals for product, marketing, analyst relations, and pre-sales teams

Requirements:

  • Proven product management experience building enterprise software, ERP, finance systems, or enterprise SaaS for higher education institutions or K-12 school boards
  • Shipped products used by higher education finance teams, research administrators, or school board operations staff
  • Deep working knowledge of higher education finance, including research grant accounting, fund and restricted-fund accounting, full economic costing, endowments, and tuition revenue models
  • Working knowledge of provincial ministry funding formulas, trustee governance and board reporting, school-level budget delegation, and collective agreement administration
  • Understanding of student lifecycle interfaces, including financial aid, tuition management, and student information system integrations
  • Understanding of AI's impact on research enterprises and administrative operations, including responsible and governance-compliant product decisions
  • Commercial orientation with understanding of ARR, win rate, and customer retention
  • Ability to communicate with CFOs, VPs of Finance, Superintendents of Business, and senior academic and school board leadership
  • Experience in product management for enterprise SaaS platforms
  • Deep understanding of professional services business models, including project-based delivery, utilization, billing, scheduling, and compliance
  • Ability to influence without authority and work cross-functionally in a matrixed environment
  • Proven ability to translate complex industry needs into scalable product solutions
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Desirable: experience with ERP or PSA platforms
  • Desirable: familiarity with mid-market services firms and operational challenges
  • Desirable: familiarity with AI-driven or data-rich product environments
  • May require security clearance and background checks for customer projects and access to sensitive customer data
