Job Description

Protection and Control Engineering Associate designing substation drawings and connection diagrams for Mesa Associates’ power delivery projects. Using AutoCAD for substation engineering design.

Responsibilities:

  • Read, understand, and help produce Protection & Control design drawings, including Single Line, AC/DC Schematic, Elementary and Connection diagrams, Front & Rear View Layout/Elevation drawings, and Bills of Material
  • Produce connection diagrams based on AC/DC schematics
  • Perform Protection & Control engineering design work for power delivery substations
  • Use AutoCAD for design work
  • Self-check design work before submission to checkers
  • Investigate solutions to design problems independently

Requirements:

  • 3 to 6 years of P&C and/or I&C design experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or better in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Ability to read, understand, and help produce Protection & Control design drawings
  • Ability to produce connection diagrams based on AC/DC schematics
  • Proficiency using AutoCAD
  • Intermediate CAD skills
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Excel and Word is a plus
  • P&C design experience relative to HV/MV substations and/or generation plants is a plus
  • Inquisitive problem-solving approach
  • Ability to investigate solutions independently before seeking help
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Good work habits and regular self-checking of design work
  • Ability to work as a team member
