Job Description
Protection and Control Engineering Associate designing substation drawings and connection diagrams for Mesa Associates’ power delivery projects. Using AutoCAD for substation engineering design.
Responsibilities:
- Read, understand, and help produce Protection & Control design drawings, including Single Line, AC/DC Schematic, Elementary and Connection diagrams, Front & Rear View Layout/Elevation drawings, and Bills of Material
- Produce connection diagrams based on AC/DC schematics
- Perform Protection & Control engineering design work for power delivery substations
- Use AutoCAD for design work
- Self-check design work before submission to checkers
- Investigate solutions to design problems independently
Requirements:
- 3 to 6 years of P&C and/or I&C design experience
- Bachelor’s degree or better in Electrical Engineering or related field
- Ability to read, understand, and help produce Protection & Control design drawings
- Ability to produce connection diagrams based on AC/DC schematics
- Proficiency using AutoCAD
- Intermediate CAD skills
- Proficiency using Microsoft Excel and Word is a plus
- P&C design experience relative to HV/MV substations and/or generation plants is a plus
- Inquisitive problem-solving approach
- Ability to investigate solutions independently before seeking help
- Strong attention to detail
- Good work habits and regular self-checking of design work
- Ability to work as a team member
