Job Description
Research Scientist Intern advancing Pluralis’s decentralized large-model training research. Publishing foundational Protocol Learning papers toward frontier-scale models.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct novel research in Protocol Learning
- Publish research in tier-1 ML conferences including NeurIPS, ICML, and ICLR
- Select and solve a problem that blocks Protocol Learning at scale
- Work on open problems involved in scaling from the 8B run toward frontier scale
- Participate in a 6-month research internship during a PhD
- Collaborate remotely across timezones with teams in Australia and North America
- Work with significant compute and receive focused mentorship from senior scientists
Requirements:
- Current PhD candidate
- At least one publication in top-tier ML venues (NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR)
- Research work in a core technical area relevant to frontier models
- Strong theoretical understanding of deep learning and distributed systems principles
- Proficiency in PyTorch
- Experience with large-scale training infrastructure
- Belief that Protocol Learning is the viable third path for collective, trustless, and sovereign AI
- Professional-level English proficiency, written and spoken
- Must be able to work remotely across timezones
- Hiring limited to Australia and the US; visa sponsorship is limited to these countries
