Job Description

Research Scientist Intern advancing Pluralis’s decentralized large-model training research. Publishing foundational Protocol Learning papers toward frontier-scale models.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct novel research in Protocol Learning
  • Publish research in tier-1 ML conferences including NeurIPS, ICML, and ICLR
  • Select and solve a problem that blocks Protocol Learning at scale
  • Work on open problems involved in scaling from the 8B run toward frontier scale
  • Participate in a 6-month research internship during a PhD
  • Collaborate remotely across timezones with teams in Australia and North America
  • Work with significant compute and receive focused mentorship from senior scientists

Requirements:

  • Current PhD candidate
  • At least one publication in top-tier ML venues (NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR)
  • Research work in a core technical area relevant to frontier models
  • Strong theoretical understanding of deep learning and distributed systems principles
  • Proficiency in PyTorch
  • Experience with large-scale training infrastructure
  • Belief that Protocol Learning is the viable third path for collective, trustless, and sovereign AI
  • Professional-level English proficiency, written and spoken
  • Must be able to work remotely across timezones
  • Hiring limited to Australia and the US; visa sponsorship is limited to these countries
